Welcome to Northdown Surgery:
We hope to use our surgery website as a way
of presenting all our patients with an up to date resource for
all information relating to our practice. We will keep it
current with any news, developments & details that are relevant
to the practice and our patients.
As well as a source of information about our Practice, the staff
and the services we provide, we hope you use the website as a
useful resource with links to other reliable websites for health
related information. If there is topical health information we
will also add this to the website.
Have a look around our website and please do send us some
feedback. We can use your thoughts to improve our online
services and further develop the website to make it a more
useful, practical application for our patients.
If you are already a patient, we would be very grateful if you
could click on "Your
clinical Record" and provide us with up-to-date lifestyle
information so that we can ensure your records are updated.
News & Issues:
Earlier this year we asked patients for their opinions on what
we needed to do better. Patients thought that it was time we
reviewed our appointment system. It would be very helpful if you
could take a few minutes to complete our survey, this will help
us with our planning in the New Year.
Please follow this link to complete the short survey at:

We offer a range of pre-booked appointments on a Saturday
morning - some with the Nurse, some with the GP. Unfortunately
we are unable to book certain types of appointments with the
Nursing team as there are no laboratory collection services
available on a Saturday (i.e. blood tests, urine tests etc).
Please ask the Reception Team about Saturday clinics.
Care Data Extraction
A recent Health and Social Care Act allows the NHS to extract,
in certain circumstances, Personal Confidential Data (PCD) from
GP practices throughout England without seeking prior patient
consent. The anonymised data will be used to plan, develop and
improve patient care and services. The Health and Social Care
Information Centre (HSCIC) will use the GP Extraction Service (GPES)
to obtain anonymous information from all GP practices in England
for specific and approved purposes. Patients can choose not to
allow their personal anonymised data to be used for this
purpose. For further information, please contact the HSCIC on
0845 300 6016 or go to
Summary Care Records
You may have received a letter from NHS Connecting for Health,
telling you that information from your GP-held medical record is
to be uploaded to the National NHS Summary Care Record system.

If, when you see your
GP, they decide you need an Ultrasound scan, they may be able to
refer you to the service based in our Practice. Your GP will
